Music and friends

One of the most satisfying parts of certain friendships is the sharing of music. I have a certain friend of 10 years or so that the sharing of new music styles or artists is something that keeps the binds strong even though we are not local to each other. We have had the pleasure of being able to send each other new discoveries and old favorites. Even a bootleg recording or two that were perfectly timed for the life event of the moment.

But in reality what this shows to me, is the essence of friendship. The ability to keep something shared for life. That shared, tangible thing is a great totem for the strength of the bond. Even if time is stretched between the face to face encounters ( and in this case over years) it enables a picking up of conversation as if the last contact was yesterday.
