This Not So Old House, Attic post…
July 14, 2010
Yesterday and today was spent with the wonderful people from Insulation Solutions here in Winston Salem, NC. This firm uses a spray on open cell foam product (made in Mt Airy, NC) to replace fiberglass or cellulose based insulation in attics and crawlspaces. We had our attic done. I have posted before and after pictures, and the difference is already amazing. It was 140 degrees in the attic yesterday afternoon. It will be interesting to see what the temp will be at the same time later on this week! This foam does not off-gas VOC’s or have any icky stuff that would be bad for indoor air quality. It also qualifies for the Tax Credit for Energy Efficient upgrades!

It looks like an igloo!
It does feel like you are in a snow cave. Except its warm. 😉
Your attic is so clean! Very impressive!
That is because everything that was in the attic is in the dining room, and Parker’s room, and everything that was in the bonus room is in the garage and our room!
WOW! Paul it looks great! The difference will be immediate in the comfort level. Give it a full month to really see some savings in your bill!!
I cannot wait. Our HVAC guy is here today working on the duct work, and he was really impressed.
