My move to working out…

June 22, 2011

Well I have committed, or maybe, I should be committed.

I have been, for the last three weeks, working out with Crossfit of Winston Salem.  When they say its The Hardest Workout You Will Ever Love, they mean it.  I have been pushed, pulled, and prodded into doing things I never thought I COULD do.  One of the primary things that has attracted me to this gym and system is the absolute dedication to proper technique.  Kevin and Renee Boyles, the owners and trainers, bring a safety first attitude towards the way the workouts are structured.  They will take the time to instruct, practice, instruct, and practice more so that you do the work correctly.  Getting hurt does not get you to your end goal.

I have seen a change in myself.  I am pushing harder, and building confidence in how to maintain mental control when I am sucking so much air that hyperventilation would be a welcome break.  It is not for everyone, however.  It is as raw as training can get.  No AC.  No machines, other than the rowing machines.  Free weights, pull up bars, jump ropes, road running, kettle bells.  I am buying in to the system, as it is the first that convinced me that I can push harder, and break the mental wall that blocks improvement.

One shot of the gym.
