The Trip of a Lifetime…

All I can say is wow.  The last 4 Days have been a whirlwind, to say the least.  After leaving Charlotte at 4:20 PM on July 4th, having a 9 hour flight to Frankfurt Germany, complete with the screaming/talking/kicking the back of our chairs kids, no sleep was had.  Oh well.  Upon arrival in Venice, from Frankfurt, it was a sight to behold.  I have fallen for Venice.  All the water, canals, history, and sights to behold.

Venice caters well to the tourist (of which I have to admit, I am).  Everyone we met was happy to see us and courteous.  Most of the people that dealt with us spoke good English (once again, proving that single language Americans are lagging behind the rest of the world (later blog post)).  We had a tremendous dinner at a little place hidden amongst alleyways that maybe were 8 feet wide.  The owners were so gracious.  The house wine, came from their own vineyard, was divine.  Trying to figure out how to get some shipped back to the States!

The second day in Venice took us back into St Marks Square. (all transportation is by water taxi.)  Our trip into St Marks Cathedral was intense, and absolutely breathtaking.  There is no photography allowed, and visitors must be dressed accordingly.  Ladies must have knees covered, and shoulders covered, men must be in long pants.   It is worth it to see the tile work, the carvings, and all.
